Home Game: The Story So Far

So, a group of rather unremarkable people joined a mercenary guild in Cormyr, and headed off to the Dales to do remarkable things. They were successful, even though not all of them made it.
They then proceeded west to the Sword Coast to help deal with an iron shortage, which was shortly solved by a short, red-haired elf with a serious case of bad parenting to deal with. This would later become somewhat more important, though not to our heroes (much). Upon their return to Cormyr, they found the guild in shambles due to internecine strife. Somewhere after this they built a fort. Admittedly, our chronicler is a bit fuzzy on this part, though he does remember the fort being named Tazra.
Shortly after this they saved the prime material from massive demon invasion, and received about as much notice as they are given for it here.
Then they went south. It’s not entirely clear why, and even less clear why they left behind their primary healer without acquiring another one. But these things happen.
They ended up in Tethyr, where they acquired a rather mercenary rogue (this turned out to be a good idea) and went exploring some dwarven ruins after trying and failing to help the elves. Go figure. They succeeded in exploring the ruins, and made a truly disgusting amount of money, as well as receiving titles and land in Tethyr. Then they took a year off, the rogue received spy training (for the first time in his life, naturally), the lizard-man became lizard-king, and various other minor occurrences dotted the landscape.
Then they helped the dwarves reclaim old Shanatar. The dwarves did most of the work. Shortly after this was done and they all settled down, all hell broke loose, when the rogue (and new spymaster of Tethyr) turned out to be a Zhent.
There was an enormous Zhentish migration into Tethyr, which after twenty years has regained half of its territory and is caught between a great many enemies, including the lizardmen formerly loyal to Duke Talathion, Lizard-King of the Tethyrian Waters.
Which leads us to the current situation in the north. The Zhents left, which means the local political climate from Cormyr to the Cold Lands went straight to hell. In the massive power vacuum left by the evacuation of virtually all Zhent forces, the area is undergoing a massive political reshaping, into which a bunch of punk noble kids will be unceremoniously thrust to deal with a bunch of elves. Our chronicler is predicting multiple diplomatic disasters, but he’s a notorious pessimist.
